Youtube for Arab Spring (2:33)
The Arab Spring was a movement marked by mass demonstrations against government corruption, political repression, poverty, and unemployment. Citizens’ protests helped end long-standing authoritarian regimes in some countries and helped bring about governmental changes in others. The movement began in Tunisia with an uprising that overthrew the government. The events in this diary took place within days of that occurrence. While Egyptian security forces at first responded violently to the protests, the thirty-year Mubarak regime was forced out of power.
